Most Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Heroes for the American Red Cross Campaign?
The Hero Campaign is a simple grassroots effort where individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, community leaders, schools, and churches work in their communities to raise money to support the work of the American Red Cross right here at home.

How long has this campaign been going on in Cenla?
This is the 6th year for the Hero Campaign in Central Louisiana. Jonathan Martin was the first campaign chairman, followed by Glenda Stock with McDonald's of Alexandria, Rapides Parish Sheriff Chuck Wagner, Dr. Joshua Joy Dara (Pastor of Zion Hill) and now Regions Bank City President Martin Johnson.

What is the campaign goal?
This year, the campaign goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of March; to recruit 45 champions that recruit 5 heroes that individually raise $1000 and, that spreads awareness in their communities of the services and programs provided by the Red Cross. We want to involve as many people from as many backgrounds as possible, creating synergy along the way to make this campaign a major success.

What is a champion?
A champion is anyone or business that leads a team of 5 heroes to raise $5000 or more.

Who can be a Red Cross Hero?
Anyone can be a hero for the Red Cross, no matter their social or economic statues. By raising $1000 or more, you can be a Hero for the American Red Cross and change so many lives.

What are some fundraising events that people have done in the past or are doing this year?
In past years, we've had individuals and groups host motorcycle rides, garage sales, DJ show downs, raffles, dances, and businesses have even donated percentages of their monthly sales just to name a few.

What does the money support?
The money raised from this campaign stays right here in Central Louisiana helping families after home fires and storms, providing emergency support services to first responders, members of the military and their families, training volunteers to respond, and teaching people the techniques to help save lives.
