What is it?

The "Heroes for the American Red Cross" is a grass roots fundraising campaign that promotes synergy and active volunteerism in the community, affording everyone the opportunity to join hands in a project that supports Central Louisianans by promoting prevention, preparedness, and by actively fundraising to provide shelter, food, emergency military support, emotional support, medical services, and emergency training skills.

What is the goal?

The goal of the Hero Campaign is to raise $50,000 to support critical emergency needs after disasters, primarily home fire, and to strengthen the Red Cross in each of the 9 Central Louisiana Parishes it serves.  Meeting this campaign goal is of great importance to the Red Cross, as the organization is not governmentally funded but depends on donations of time and money to fulfill its mission.

How it works

The concept is very simple.  Individuals are recruited to serve as Heroes for the American Red Cross. For generations, the Red Cross has been providing Heroes to our communities. In order for the Red Cross to meet our commitments to our communities now and in the future, we need citizens willing to be a "Hero" for the American Red Cross. An individual becomes a Hero by agreeing to raise at least $1,000 for the Red Cross chapter.

The funds can be raised in a variety of ways. Individuals may work alone or may choose to involve their company, civic club, church, or school in their fund raising efforts. An individual or business may also choose to donate the needed money.

The Campaign levels (3):

·     Campaign Chair – Martin Johnson (The Chair will recruit Champions)

·     Champion – The Champion will recruit a minimum of five Heroes.

Champions are not necessarily expected to raise money, only recruit the people needed for the next level of the campaign team.

·    Hero- The Hero creates, organizes and implements the actual fundraising event
