| To make sure the 2010 Hero Campaign goal is met, Campaign Chairman Dr. Joshua Joy Dara has decided to extend the campaign.
For some of us, meeting our campaign goal has been a walk in the park and for others it has been fun overcoming some of the obstacles we’ve faced. Never-the-less, it has been a great experience getting out into the communities where we live and work, encouraging people to join us in changing lives right at home.
This is your opportunity to continue working to meet or even exceed your campaign goal. We’re not just asking for “money” but telling the Central Louisiana Red Cross story. Everyday, Red Cross volunteers are responding to disasters and emergencies 365 days a year, 24 hours a day across the 9 parishes we serve. Mostly, in the form of home fires and military emergencies. Because we don’t receive any funding from the government, none of what we do at the Red Cross would be possible without donations from people in the community.
Please tell the story and encourage others to make a contribution to help raise $32,000 more to meet the overall campaign goal of $50,000.
Anyone can be a “Hero for the Central Louisiana American Red Cross” by raising $1,000. If you're not about to raise $1000 any donation to the campaign will help. The goal is to involve as many individuals from as many backgrounds as possible. The money can be contributed by you, your employer, your friends and coworkers, your neighbors or customers. In order for the Red Cross to meet our commitments to our communities now and in the future, we need citizens willing to be a "Hero" for the American Red Cross.
The funds can be raised in a variety of ways. Individuals may work alone or may choose to involve their company, civic club, church, or school in their fund raising efforts. An individual or business may also choose to donate. The money raised in the hero campaign stays here in Central Louisiana to support the training of volunteers to provide Red Cross services, helping during disasters, supporting military men and women and their families during emergencies and giving aid after a home fire. We also provide life-saving training skills such as CPR/First Aid, swimming, and babysitting.
